Tech - MLT/Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) / Medical Technologist (MT) performs clinical laboratory testing to support disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. This role requires working independently during overnight shifts, managing workflow, and maintaining high levels of accuracy and proficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Perform and analyze laboratory tests on patient specimens according to established protocols.
• Accurately accession and process tests within the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and coordinate referrals to reference laboratories.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting issues as needed to ensure reliable results.
• Document procedures and results in compliance with regulatory standards, and develop/update laboratory policies.
• Adhere to infection control and sterilization procedures when handling infectious specimens.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and competently perform routine phlebotomy when required.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an approved school of Medical Technology or Laboratory Science with an Associate's (MLT) or Bachelor's (MT/CLS) degree.
• Certification/registration through recognized agencies such as MLT(ASCP), MLT(AMT), CLT(NCA) for MLT, or MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), CLS(NCA) for MT/CLS.
• Minimum of one year laboratory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital laboratory protocols, infection control, and regulatory standards.
• Strong multitasking, analytical, and reasoning skills.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
