Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position Under general supervision, provides assistance in the administration and supervision of confidential activities within a group of services in the health care setting. Responsible for several departments and manages the technical, managerial, ancillary, clerical and support staff of these departments. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Directs and supervises staff and support departments, coordinates special services across activities of related support and professional service departments. Prepares operating plans and drafts of plans, policies, programs and procedures. Participates in the implementation of improved systems and procedures, monitors of systems, and in the control and audit programs. Makes studies of adequacy and effectiveness of general administrative and support services and makes recommendations. Prepares data for budget preparation, operating and statistical reports, analysis and makes recommendations. Monitors requisitioning of supplies and equipment. Requisitions materials and supplies for administrative, professional and support service activities. Prepares studies on patient care standards, conducts analysis and prepares recommendations. Attends staff meetings, conferences and consults with other departments. May represent health care setting administration in relevant functions and programs. Assists in grant proposal writing and in submitting revenue and expenditure reports for special funded programs. Performs other related duties, as directed. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Care Administration, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of experience at a responsible management and administrative level; or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in 1 above; and five (5) years of experience as described in 1 above. Department Preferences Bachelor’s degree required; master’s in business administration (MBA), public health (MPH), or in healthcare administration (MHA), JD, RN, MD is preferred. Licensed by NYS Office of the Professions in a health care profession (i.e., JD, RN, MD, OT, PT, Speech, Radiology, Pharmacy) preferred Experience with New York City’s healthcare landscape. Knowledgeable in medical terminology Knowledge and experience with EMRs Ability to oversee in the collection, analysis, and distribution of outcome data Excellent planning and organizational skills including the ability to set time lines and meet deadlines Good presentational skills, engaging, and dynamic Change oriented; creative and innovative High energy, assertive, and a self-starter Previous experience in chart auditing, data abstraction and/or data collection and analysis preferred Knowledge of healthcare law, including the Family Health Care Decisions Act and related regulations. Knowledge of hospital administration. Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing; actively listen and seek clarification; and participate effectively in meetings. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, exercising sound judgment, prioritization, and time management skills. Ability to ensure the completeness and accuracy of work products and information; skilled at preparing thoroughly for meetings and presentations, and following up to confirm that agreements and commitments are fulfilled. Ability to collaborate with department heads and administrative staff to advance the goals and vision of the Director of Risk Management.
