Clinical Pharmacist - Inpatient Abdominal Transplant MGH

Site: The General Hospital Corporation. Job Summary Sign‑on bonus: $10,000.00, with a 12‑month work commitment. Half the bonus is paid after 90 days of hire, the remaining 50% at one year. The bonus is non‑transferable and must be repaid if the work commitment is not fulfilled. Eligibility for internal transfers, prior offer acceptance, or current Mass General Brigham employees is excluded. Compensation ranges between $127,000 and $160,000 annually. The role is for an Inpatient Abdominal Transplant Clinical Pharmacist who will cover abdominal transplant patients and serve as the expert in pharmacotherapy for the interdisciplinary transplant team. Responsibilities Review transplant pharmacotherapy during interdisciplinary rounds. Lead education for patients and healthcare professionals. Contribute to protocols and guidelines related to transplant pharmacotherapy. Participate in quality improvement and research projects. Train residents and pharmacy students. Collaborate closely with the Pharmacy and Transplant Departments and other hospital units. Qualifications Must be eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Board certification by examination, or equivalent certification, in a relevant specialty is preferred and required within 18 months of hiring. Clinical pharmacists must provide direct patient‑centered care, integrate pharmacy operational services with physicians, nurses, and other personnel, and manage medication therapies for a broad range of disease states. They must conduct practice‑related research, quality initiatives, and educational activities, and serve as preceptors for pharmacy residents and Doctor of Pharmacy students (MGH Pharmacy Residency website: Pharmacies who possess the ability to assess patient needs, incorporate age and disease‑specific characteristics into drug therapy, adjust care according to response, and detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events are favored. Preferred Qualifications Completion of an ASHP‑accredited PGY1 and PGY2 Internal Medicine or Transplant Pharmacy Residency or Fellowship, or equivalent experience. Experience Experience working as a pharmacist for 2–3 years is preferred. Licenses and Credentials Pharmacist State License – Massachusetts Required. Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR) – preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive knowledge of IV admixtures, drug information, ambulatory, manufacturing, and drug distribution. Attention to detail. Knowledge of principles of growth and development across the lifespan of neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Ability to assess patient data relative to age‑specific needs and provide care as per department policies. Works independently and participates in department quality improvement efforts. Participates in training of medical, nursing and allied health professionals. Must complete 20 continuing education credits per year to maintain license. Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements, prescription information, drug identification, generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging, labeling, and proper handling and storage practices.
