Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: RN - Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (0700 - 1930) Experience: One year of recent acute care RN experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer - AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring course required on hire and every two years for experienced nurses - AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring course for novice or new to Labor and Delivery RNs during first 6-8 months of orientation Description: Located among picturesque oak trees, this facility has been serving the local community since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, the team provides exceptional care in various medical and surgical services. The community enjoys weekly farmers markets, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for outdoor activities, and beach access just a short drive away. This position involves performing the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The role includes coordinating, managing, providing, and delegating patient care. Meeting established standards of nursing practice and promoting cooperation among the health care team is essential. Active participation in committees and maintaining good relations with patients, families, and co-workers is encouraged. Maintaining current professional licenses and certifications as required is mandatory. Demonstrating knowledge of and adhering to all applicable professional and regulatory standards is expected. Attendance and punctuality are critical for reliability. Completing work within allotted time frames is necessary. Demonstrating skill in the use of medical equipment and understanding its capabilities and limitations is crucial. Effective communication with physicians, patients, families, and employees is important. Continuing education to improve quality of care is encouraged. Recognizing each person as an individual and being sensitive to their differences is vital. Maintaining a professional appearance and positive body language is required. Confidentiality regarding all hospital-related matters must be upheld. Exploring new approaches to problem-solving and embracing change is encouraged. Protecting hospital resources through careful and appropriate use of supplies and equipment is essential. Following safety standards and principles of infection control is critical in this role. Reporting safety hazards, accidents, and injuries promptly is necessary. Performing other job-related duties as assigned is expected.
