Driver Helper – $16/hr – Early Morning Shift

Pay: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Start Time: 3:00 AM
Typical End Time: Approximately 1:00–2:00 PM
Shift: 1st Shift

Job Summary

We are hiring a Driver Helper to work alongside a Route Driver collecting waste and recyclable materials from residential and commercial locations.

This is a physical, fast-paced outdoor position. Driver Helpers assist with loading and emptying containers, help the driver safely complete routes, and provide support throughout the workday.

Job Duties

• Ride with and assist the Route Driver throughout the assigned route
• Manually or mechanically load and empty waste and recycling containers into the truck
• Move containers from curbside, docks, or other collection areas as needed
• Operate hoisting equipment used to lift and empty containers into the truck
• Assist the driver during backing maneuvers
• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or property damage immediately
• Report blocked streets, heavy containers, or other service issues to Dispatch or the Route Manager
• Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or management
• Attend required safety meetings, training, and briefings
• Assist other drivers or routes when directed
• Follow OSHA requirements and all company, local, state, and federal safety rules

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Entry-level candidates may be considered; less than 1 year of previous related experience
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Must be able to frequently lift and handle items weighing more than 25 pounds
• Must be able to push, pull, bend, twist, and lift up to 70 pounds
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions
• Must be comfortable working around dirt, odors, and noise
• 6-inch steel-toe work boots are required
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical, background check, and employment verification

Preferred Qualification and Room for Growth

• Ability and/or Desire to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Work Environment

This position is primarily outdoors and involves riding in a GPS/video-monitored collection vehicle. Employees may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions throughout the workday.

This is a physically demanding position requiring frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting.

$16.00/hour | Monday–Friday | 3:00 AM Start | Typically Ends Around 1:00–2:00 PM
