Banquet Captain

Job Summary Banquet Captain – Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center, College Station, Texas. Responsible for supervising the banquet service team to ensure successful execution of banquet functions and delivering excellent guest service. Responsibilities Supervise and participate in the set‑up, preparation, service, and tear‑down of banquet functions. Provide training to staff and evaluate and provide corrective action to team members. Ensure functions start on time, meet client needs, and respond to guest requests quickly. Ensure all safety procedures are followed and conduct pre‑event meetings. Interact with guests, event coordinators, property conference managers and other departments needed to execute events successfully. Fill out necessary paperwork for functions (order stewarding, chaffing dishes, tables and other items). Assist in conducting pre‑shift and huddle meetings to inform staff of event details. Ensure high grooming and hygiene standards are met by all banquet staff. Assist the Banquet Manager in establishing maintenance, repair and cleaning schedules for all banquet equipment. Provide an exceptional guest experience by going above and beyond. Close banquet checks at the end of each function. Help manage department service standards, POS station, schedules and labor/beverage costs. Attend necessary meetings (e.g., BEO meetings) and help maintain/update BEOs and function sheets. Check banquet rooms, service and kitchen areas for cleanliness, proper set‑up and safety. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of banquet or catering experience; two years in a leadership role preferred. Excellent customer service skills. Exceptional knowledge of banquet and food service techniques and standards; banquet bartending knowledge preferred. Ability to read and speak English fluently. Organized and efficient. Basic computer skills. Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $18–$20 per hour plus an unspecified percentage of gratuities. Paid bi‑weekly. 401(k) with a company match.
