Public Health Center-Administration 200 South Post Rd Shelby, NC 28152 Summary The nurse position will be cross trained in all clinics and any new clinics that may be added in the future and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed and supervised under the Public Health Nurse Supervisor. The normal work schedule includes Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and may occasionally require evening and weekend hours to promote clinic services. This summary provides a general outline and not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the department and county. Essential Functions Cross trained across all clinical services areas: Primary Care, Maternal Care, Family Planning, Child Health, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, BCCP, Wisewoman, General Services, Employee Health and Wellness. Adult Health, Primary Care, Employee Health and Wellness Center. Family Planning, Maternity, and Child Health. Eventually train in other clinics: BCCCP, Wisewoman, STD Clinics. Follow up with lab results and referrals from all clinics. Assist with new mobile screening bus, as needed. Return patient phone calls, complete medical record requests and chart audits. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs; ability to apply the principles and practices of public health; knowledge of available resources and organizations and the ability to coordinate these as needed; awareness of current social and economic problems relating to public health; tactful interaction with others, good judgment and decision making; securing client cooperation, eliciting needed information, and maintaining effective working relationships; accurate record-keeping and interpretation of records, reports, and medical instructions. Education & Experience Graduated from a school of professional nursing with an Associates Degree in Nursing and 1 year of Nursing Experience; or graduated from a 4‑year college or university with a B.S. Degree in Nursing. Physical Requirements This work requires occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel; occasionally sitting. Requires standard vision and vocal communication. Requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data. No exposure to environmental conditions. Work takes place in a moderately noisy location. License & Certifications A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Location This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short‑term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval. Emergency Response This position is a part of the Cleveland County Public Health Center which is considered a Health and Human Services Department. By General Statute 166A-19.3, Departments of Health and Human Services are agencies that are a part of the State Emergency Response Team for occurrences or imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any natural or man‑made accidental, military, paramilitary, terrorism, weather‑related, public health, explosion‑related, riot‑related cause, or technological failure or accident. In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
