Job Overview This role is for a full-time or part-time role at one ALF in Eustis. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. Duties Assist Occupational Therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients. Provide direct patient care by guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities. Monitor patient progress and document changes in their condition or response to treatment. Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for improving daily living skills. Maintain accurate records of patient care and progress in accordance with regulatory standards. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Actively lead exercise classes, participate in community events, and work collaboratively with community personnel Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with team members and documenting patient interactions. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices. Experience in acute care, outpatient, inpatient, clinic, or home health settings is highly desirable. Proficient in assisting patients with various therapeutic exercises and activities. Understanding of physiology and its application in rehabilitation processes. Ability to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining professionalism. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Requirements Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of Florida. Experience in a skilled nursing facility, ALF, or home health setting preferred. Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology essential for effective patient care. Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including autism. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Ability to perform discharge planning effectively to ensure continuity of care.
