Entry‑Level Petroleum Inspector – Romeoville, Illinois Intertek Caleb Brett seeks an entry‑level Petroleum Inspector for our Romeoville, IL facility. This role focuses on volume, temperature, and sampling measurements, documentation, and reporting to ensure accurate assessment of petroleum commodities. The position requires travel up to 75% of the time. Salary & Benefits Starting pay of $24.00–$30.00 per hour, based on industry experience. Full benefits begin at the first of the month, after 30 days of employment. Perform duties per specified methodology, including paperwork. Measure volume, temperature, and sample commodity materials in lines, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships. Conduct visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tanks, barges, and ships. Complete custody transfer surveys between rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, barges, and ships. Perform routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks. Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and company personnel. Monitor and report needed supplies to dispatcher or coordinator. Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure timely service delivery, reporting, and sample submission. Maintain clean, organized work areas, records, and equipment. Record and communicate results in appropriate media. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications Basic grasp of mathematics and ability to work in an automated environment. Work on an on‑call basis. No fear of heights. Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks. Valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record (required). Possession or ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines. Detail‑oriented, with effective prioritization and time‑management skills. Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time. Physical Requirements Lifting, walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, and driving. Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks. Preferred Requirements and Qualifications Previous experience performing petroleum inspections. IFIA certification is a plus. Drug‑Free Workplace Intertek is a drug‑free workplace.
