Patient Services Representative UPMC Central PA Weight Management Center UPMC Central PA Weight Management Center is seeking a Patient Services Representative to join our busy, close-knit team in York, PA. What We're Looking For Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent multitasking and time-management abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Strong customer service and communication skills Prior medical office, front desk, or patient service experience preferred Epic experience preferred, but not required Responsibilities: Provide a warm, welcoming experience for all patients and visitors. Guide patients through self-arrival technology or assist with check-in at the front desk based on patient preference. Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service. Confirm and update patient registration and demographic information during the check-out process. Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at check-out. Schedule ancillary services or connect patients with the appropriate resources to arrange additional services. Help patients navigate the healthcare system by providing clear, easy-to-understand instructions and ensuring continuity of care through follow-up on unresolved questions or concerns. Demonstrate an understanding of service recovery principles and take appropriate action to exceed patient expectations and uphold the UPMC Experience. Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and educate them on its benefits. Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with enrollment and registration when appropriate. Educate patients regarding their financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy and financial assistance resources as needed. Verify insurance coverage and benefits through online verification systems and telephone inquiries with insurance carriers. Obtain patient or family signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility forms in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Professionally triage and route incoming phone calls to the appropriate departments or clinical staff. Assist with administrative duties, including scanning medical records, faxing documents, and maintaining accurate patient records. Remain knowledgeable about MyUPMC Portal navigation and functionality, confidently explaining features and benefits to help patients access health information and care services with ease. Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required. Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred. Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
