Asthma Community Engagement Coordinator, Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health

CHECW works to eliminate inequities that contribute to premature mortality in NYC communities by focusing on social and environmental determinants of health. The Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health seeks to hire two Asthma Community Engagement Coordinators to support the Bronx Asthma Program. Responsibilities Establish and maintain effective relationships with key local organizations and community partners to identify and address health needs of underserved communities. Manage special projects for the Bronx Asthma Program, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of asthma promotion projects. Identify and assess local partnerships and provide technical assistance for development and/or partnership enhancement. Coordinate activities for partnership building and improving community‑level service coordination. Support the development of Bronx Asthma Program outreach materials, coordinating with the CHECW communications team and providing input on materials. Provide services to the community and maintain ongoing communication with community partners, local leaders, and groups to explain program interventions and initiatives. Coordinate activities for partnerships with other agency programs. Attend and deliver presentations and updates at community meetings and events. Supervise and train health promotion staff and interns to ensure effective program delivery. Occasionally attend community events during evenings and weekends. Preferred Skills Commitment to social justice and equity. Experience working in low‑income communities; comfortable working in a community setting with diverse populations. Excellent presentation, organization, and written and oral communication skills. Existing knowledge of Bronx community stakeholders. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent customer‑service skills. Bilingual/Spanish speaking candidates strongly encouraged. Experience working in applied public health programs. Experience working with community members and organizations. Strong coordination and organizational skills. Detail oriented, able to manage projects and work independently. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. All candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1.
