Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 18:45–07:15; 36 hours per week; every other weekend required; floating to like units as needed

Highlights:

• Mixed acuity 48-bed unit combining progressive care and medical-surgical/telemetry patients with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 (occasionally 1:6 in extreme situations)
• Comprehensive unit support including team lead (3:1 ratio), two respiratory therapists, admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, vascular access team, and rapid response team
• Patient population includes COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, chest tubes, COVID-19, influenza, pulmonary embolism, and chronic trach/vent patients
• Advanced skills utilized: ventilator management (chronic vent patients only, no more than one vent per nurse), chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Epic charting system with 24-hour orientation period
• Contract length: 13-26 weeks available; first-time travelers accepted

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Current North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Experience with IV starts, ventilators, telemetry, BiPAP/CPAP, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing cardiac drips (Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin) and caring for patients with chest tubes and tracheostomies
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Ability to work in a high-acuity environment and maintain a collaborative, team-oriented approach
