Sr Director - R&D DDSAI - Discovery Biologics

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine seeks a senior leader to oversee data and AI strategy for Discovery Biologics. The role focuses on translating computational advances into drug discovery practices, building multidisciplinary teams, and accelerating clinical candidate identification through an integrated data and AI engine.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute integrated data, analytics, machine learning, and AI strategy for biologics discovery
• Lead development and deployment of AI approaches for antibody engineering and candidate optimization
• Establish data foundations connecting sequence, assay results, automation outputs, and external datasets
• Partner with experimental and IT teams to embed AI capabilities into discovery workflows
• Build and develop talent bridging experimental science and computational innovation

Requirements

• Proven experience leading large data science and AI organizations
• Deep understanding of drug discovery processes, particularly biologics development
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute multi-year technology strategy
• Strong organizational and change management skills for cross-functional teams
• Track record translating machine learning advances into production impact
• Experience with data architecture, engineering, and platform development
