Funeral Services Assistant (part-time)

Job Responsibilities Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families; ensure proper care and storage of these items. Prepare documents related to services, cremations, maintenance, and other duties as directed by management. Assist with respectful preparation of remains of deceased, including dressing, lifting, and operation of crematory per legal and company regulations. Perform office duties such as answering phones, operating fax machines, computer, multiline phone system, debit card machine, typewriter, postage meter, scale, and stereo/video system. Run errands including floral delivery and picking up supplies, documents, etc. Serve as an usher and may park cars or perform transportation requirements. Drive funeral home vehicles for services and to pick up families. Ensure refreshments are available (where allowed by law). Assist with visitations, memorial, and funeral services, including visitation and chapel set up, dressing and casketing of remains, and delivery of family items and flowers. Greet and receive client families and other persons entering the office for information and assistance. Accommodate the needs of families during services and/or visitations. Wash and clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required from time to time. Attend monthly staff meetings as expected. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred. Proficient with MS Office suite and databases; ability and willingness to learn required. Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. High level of compassion and integrity. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Professional behaviors and team player.
