Make a meaningful impact by supporting students in a school setting as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This contract position, starting as soon as possible, is focused exclusively on evaluations. With one opening available, you’ll play a vital role in assisting with functional vision and media assessments and conducting insightful classroom observations. The assignment is school-based and not virtual, ensuring hands-on engagement with students and educational teams.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois teaching license and certification required
- CTE (Career and Technical Education) endorsement necessary
- Demonstrated school-based experience, specifically with visually impaired students
- Skilled in conducting functional vision and media assessments
- Comfortable performing classroom observations
- Strong communication and reporting abilities
- Must be available for a 30-minute interview
- This opportunity is not available for virtual/remote participation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the evaluation process by conducting thorough functional vision assessments
- Perform media assessments to determine appropriate educational materials for students
- Observe students in classroom settings to gather findings and provide recommendations
- Collaborate with school professionals to interpret assessment results
- Deliver detailed, timely reports to assist in student planning and support
- Maintain compliance with all state and district requirements throughout the evaluation period
