Medical Laboratory Technician FT

Summary: The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs routine and specialized clinical laboratory testing to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Working under the supervision of a Laboratory Manager or Director, the MLT ensures accurate and timely test results in accordance with laboratory protocols, regulatory guidelines (CLIA, CAP, OSHA), and quality assurance standards.Job SpecificPerform clinical laboratory testing in areas such as: Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Immunology, Microbiology, and Blood BankPrepare specimens for analysis and ensure proper labeling, handling, and storageOperate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipmentVerify and validate test results; identify discrepancies or unexpected findingsDocument results accurately in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)Participate in quality control, proficiency testing, and quality improvement activitiesFollow laboratory safety protocols and infection control proceduresAssist with inventory management and supply stockingCommunicate effectively with providers, nurses, and clinical staff regarding urgent or critical resultsParticipate in continuing education and training activitiesQualifications:Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent from an accredited programCompletion of a NAACLS-accredited MLT programCertification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)Current state licensure, if applicablePreferred:One year of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or outpatient labFamiliarity with CLIA regulations and CAP accreditation standardsPhlebotomy experience preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
