This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 04/17/2026. This is a Continuing Position Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year: Medical, dental, vision, basic long-term disability, basic life and AD&D insurance through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). For additional information click EPS Benefits Information. Employees may also be eligible to participate in FSA, DCAP, HSA, FPFSA (w/HDHP), and other supplemental benefits. Employees may be eligible for employer-employee funded retirement benefits through Department of Retirement Services (DRS). EPS offers paid holidays and paid time off, including but not limited to sick, vacation, personal, religious, and bereavement leave. Additional negotiated leave options can be found in the associated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for this position Evergreen Education Association. Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule such as, but not limited to TRI pay, In-Service days, and Extended Contracts, all in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) as negotiated. Provide direct, consultative and indirect service in schools, homes and community settings to support the educational and developmental motor needs of children with disabilities (birth to 21 years), their families, and their educational teams. Participate in screening and comprehensive assessment of students with orthopedic/physical or motor impairment. Participate as a specialist in the area of orthopedic/physical impairment to determine eligibility. Participate in developing integrated goals with other education staff for students on caseload. Participate in the preparation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), service plans or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) for identified students. Prepare records and reports for eligibility evaluations, services, IEPs / IFSPs and transitions according to program procedures or as directed. Design, construct and adapt materials and equipment to provide support in the educational setting. Serve as a resource, consultant and trainer to provide specialized suggestions and/or equipment for use by educators and/or parents. Lead in the assessment, selection, training, management and use of assistive technology related to motor impairment. Instruct education staff in positioning, handling and mobility needs of the student to support educational goals/program. Ability to synthesize and integrate clinical, educational and interpersonal issues regarding change, disabilities, grief and loss. Work independently with limited contact with other PT staff. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules. Maintain knowledge of and follow special education rules, regulations and procedures. Utilize a variety of communication tools for correspondence. Monitor programs using observation, data collection and pre-post assessment. Consult and communicate with other professionals and students' families regarding the needs of students. Work effectively and cooperatively with parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community. Understand and use a variety of assistive technologies and programs. Participate in State, Federal and District testing requirements. Meet district, state, and federal timelines and legal requirements. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS :
Valid ESA certification as a School Physical Therapist or able to obtain ESA certification. Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy education program and record of having successfully completed the required field work within the physical therapy profession. Valid PT License in the State of Washington. Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for cost of background check. Experience working in the field of special education within the public school setting preferred. Understanding of current State and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities. Must have regular, consistent attendance. Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse. Must be flexible, exhibit a commitment to accomplishment, possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills, demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships, possess a strong professional orientation, and be willing to actively participate in a team environment. Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse. Physical capability to respond to student in order to maintain a safe and supportive school environment. Preferred training and/or experience in instructional and management strategies to include: Personalized Learning. Use of educational and assistive technology. Knowledge of classroom and individual student behavior management techniques. Experience and training in CPI nonviolent crisis intervention techniques or equivalent process. Experience using the IEP-Online system. Training and/or experience in instructional and/or management strategies in positive behavioral supports, Collaborative Problem Solving, TEACCH, ABA, visual systems/learning, assistive technology, social thinking, social emotional learning, curriculum adaptations, social skills instruction, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) Professional Learning Communities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES RELATED TO CULTURAL COMPETENCE AND EQUITY: Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.
