Organization Overview Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the processes and facility to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations. Position Brand Description The Tank Farm, Truck and Rail Operator is directly responsible for ensuring that the supply of solvents and management of waste is provided without interruption of service to support the needs of the facility. The Operator will oversee tank farm operations, air emissions systems, and truck/rail car loading/unloading, and execute operations per SOPs to safely and compliantly support the manufacturing of high-quality medicine. During the project delivery and startup phase (expected startup 2026‑2028), roles will be fluid and dynamic as we endeavor to support project delivery, build a new organization, develop and implement necessary systems and business processes required to support GMP operations, and build the site culture. This will require significant collaboration, creativity and resilience as the site grows to full-scale GMP manufacturing. Responsibilities Ensure operations maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements at all times. Ensure areas appropriately support execution of the production plan for the site. Manage tank farm operations, tanker loading/unloading, railcar loading/unloading. Carry out daily monitoring testing and cleaning duties on systems to ensure equipment and systems are in good operating condition and maintained according to regulatory requirements. Apply Health, Safety & Environmental regulations and process safety standards to execute key GMP duties. Identify and respond to operational hazards in other processes. Monitor and collect data on equipment use and performance to anticipate reliability problems. Work with Maintenance and Technical Support to respond to supply upsets or equipment failure. Report problems or events (spills, deviations, incidents) during processing. Communicate status of operations and issues to subsequent shifts. Participate in daily shift huddles/meetings to set operational goals. Participate in safety audits, procedure coordination, housekeeping and improvement projects. Be trained and qualified on all specified unit operations within the area. Escalate concerns in crew meetings or to safety representatives. Follow cGMP practices, safe work habits, plant dress code, hygiene standards, and housekeeping requirements. Basic Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. At least 5 years in hazardous chemical manufacturing, refining, hazardous pharmaceutical, or chemical tank farm operation. Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; no work‑authorization sponsorship provided. Completion of Post Offer Exam or Work Simulation if required. Effective communication skills (electronic, written, verbal). Basic computer skills (desktop software). Ability to bend, reach, stretch, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces. Ability to stand for long periods. Additional Preferences Experience in facility/area startup environments. Experience in utility operations or supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing. Solid understanding of FDA guidelines and cGMP requirements. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple requests. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. Emergency Response Experience Industrial, military, volunteer, or career firefighter. Indiana State or IFSAC Certification – Fire 1, Hazmat Technician. Additional Information Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts (days and nights). Ability to work flexible schedules during startup period. Ability to work overtime as required. Short‑term assignment of 6‑12 months in Indianapolis, IN and/or 1‑3 months domestically/internationally for training and certification; may include short travel to manufacturer’s factory. Compensation & Benefits Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $21.27 - $45.48 per hour. Full‑time employees will be eligible for a company bonus (depending on company and individual performance).
