What we are looking for: Grammer is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our location in Delphos, OH. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The Quality Engineer will oversee and direct quality activities in the area of capability studies, dimensional checks, material testing, product inspection, print changes, and process/product documentation and in order to obtain optimum productivity and quality levels while complying with customer specifications. The Quality Engineer is to provide quality support to internal and external customers. Responsibilities will include documentation of processes, procedures, and equipment; coordinating the completion of all quality function tasks and the resolution of all quality issues in a timely and robust fashion. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for providing quality support within the new product introduction project team for all aspects of a project from final design release through Job #1 and play a key role in providing technical support to the customer.The primary responsibility will be to achieve premium levels of customer satisfaction for product and services supplied by the plant through operator awareness, appropriate inspection, audit programs, and continuous improvements and customer visits to the plants for monitoring and feedback. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for achieving product target cost, efficiency, and quality for existing products.In addition, this position will be responsible to lead the plant in customer satisfaction, PPM reduction, and quality system development. The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Quality Manager, but will also be an active member of the Launch team. The Quality Engineer will be required to support multiple projects and work with the plant to maintain third party registration to IATF: 16949 standards and obtain customer quality awards and certifications.Job Functions:Support project launch strategyParticipate in identifying open item issuesSupport and project timelineProvide support for all pre-production builds requiring components and/or services from the manufacturing siteWork with team to develop processes, establish process documentation and controls, and plant training needs of the new projectAssist with training of production personnel for processing and quality standardsEnsure product conforms to customer engineering standardsSupport and develop process documentation Coordinate problem solving of quality issues, as requiredReview component supplier performance and submissionDetermine possible quality problems and prepare a list of concerns to be discussed with the launch teamMonitor customer concerns/rejections during pre-production and after Job #1Perform capability studies via gauges, measurement equipment, statistical analysis, and problem-solving investigationWork with tool and part suppliers on PPAP requirements and submissionReview and approve supplier PPAP packageSupport elements of IATF: 16949, APQP and PPAPGage R&R studies, procedures and certificationReview of production quality performance with Quality Manager/SupervisorAssist Engineers in development of FMEA, and process flowchartDeliverables:Support quality/dimensional control system (i.e., X&R charts, gage studies, six sigma)Dimensional Capability studiesQuality documentation, as requiredMaintain PPAP booklet on assigned programsSupport development of PPAP submittal with EngineersDevelop and maintain quality technician and inspector assignments as requiredMaintain process documentation (i.e., PFMEA, flow charts)Maintain internal and external database: 8Ds, Process Alerts, and RejectionsAnnual product certificationsQualifications Desired:Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a technology or engineering disciplineAt least 5 years of quality experience in a similar role3 years of auditing experiencePlastics experience preferred.Injection mold experience preferredSix Sigma Greenbelt preferredHighly motivated, able to communicate effectively with both customers and peers, and have the ability to handle difficult situations in a calm, thorough, and time conscious mannerStrong problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to analyze and utilize data to make informed and strategic decisionsAnd most importantly, what can you expect from us?Medical, Dental, and Vision coverageTuition reimbursement programs401(k) matchRobust EAP servicesDevelopmental opportunitiesMuch more!
