Hospitalist Physician Assistant Medical Director – UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center

\n

Adfinitas Health has a full-time opportunity for a BC/BE Assistant Medical Director to join our well-established group at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland!

\n

\n

SUMMARY:

\n

The Assistant Medical Director is responsible for assisting the Medical Director in leading and managing the Adfinitas Health program and its providers; implementing and executing Operational and Quality Initiatives; fostering and maintaining positive relationships with staff members; collaborating and nurturing relationships with hospital clinical and administrative staff; and espousing fiduciary accountability and performance of the program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

\n

Hospitalist Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Adequately perform the duties and responsibilities as set forth in the Hospitalist, Physician or Advanced Practice Provider job description, as applicable. 
\n

\n

\n

Clinical Quality Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

Assist and support the Medical Director in the following:

\n

\n
• Implement the clinical quality programs at your site. The programs may include those directed by Adfinitas or the client/hospital.
\n
• Understand the quality incentive criteria applicable to your staff members and drive achievement of targets and goals while ensuring transparency and communication of metrics.
\n
• Ensure that each provider receives their performance on the quality metrics including but not limited to: 
\n
• Rapid Cycle Feedback (“RCF”);
\n
• Clinical D documentation Audits;
\n
• Variation in Care Scorecard;
\n
• Readmission Rates, and
\n
• Discharge Summary Audits
\n
• Implement and manage process improvement initiatives as directed.
\n
• Attend designated meetings in the hospital, to include but not limited to: 
\n
• MEC, P&T, HCAHPS, Sepsis/MHAC, Readmissions, and ED/ICUs.
\n
• Ensure that sign out of team’s patients are conducted in a thorough, appropriate (verbal/written) and timely manner.
\n
• Ensure that each provider understands the hospital’s expectations regarding timeliness of consults.
\n
• Ensure that every provider timely (same day as seen) and accurately prepares notes for each patient they are responsible for. This applies to admission, follow-up notes and discharge notes.
\n
• Ensure that APP staff is adequately supervised and receives sufficient clinical support.
\n
• Communicate regularly with your supervisors regarding the clinical performance of your site.
\n

\n

Administrative and Managerial Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

Assist and support the Medical Director in the following:

\n

\n
• Ensure that all shifts are filled consistent with the applicable staffing model and provider contact requirements. 
\n
• Manage utilization and scheduling of team’s PTO. 
\n
• Ensure that Company policies and practices are understood and followed.
\n
• Establish a positive working relationship with each member of your team and develop an environment in which your staff members feel comfortable providing honest feedback.
\n
• Promote and maintain a working environment that is healthy and constructive and engage in activities and initiatives that contribute positively to employee morale.
\n
• Understand and promote the core values of Adfinitas, both as an individual and throughout your team as a leader for the Company.
\n
• Maintain a performance file for each provider containing complaints, accomplishments, reviews, and any other relevant documentation.
\n
• Seek guidance from and collaborate with Human Resources when needed to deal with discipline or performance management issues. 
\n
• Participate in standing meetings (at least biweekly) with your RMD and DO. 
\n
• Prepare agenda for standing meeting with your supervisor utilizing approved agenda template. 
\n
• Schedule and hold regular staff meetings with your team (at least monthly). 
\n
• Prepare agenda and share agenda with Regional Medical Director, DO CMO and COO.  
\n
• Lead and manage the onsite recruitment process including timely conducting of interviews, reference checks, and on-site tours.  
\n
• Serve as a liaison to the MSO and assist with credentialing issues as needed.
\n
• Orient and onboard all new providers.
\n
• Conduct all performance evaluations and engagement elated initiatives in a timely and thorough manner.
\n
• Manage and coordinate all APP Training objectives.  
\n
• Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled meetings hospital administration. 
\n
• Communicate regularly with your supervisors regarding the administrative functionality of your site.  
\n

Financial Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

Assist and support the Medical Director in the following:

\n

\n
• Ensure that the program has the Physician to PA mix contemplated for your site
\n
• Track the P&L, control expenses and meet the expected financial targets 
\n
• Communicate regularly with your supervisors regarding the financial performance of your site.  
\n

\n

\n

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

\n

\n
• Three (3) years of experience in a hospitalist role, preferred
\n
• State Board of Physicians licensure in good standing
\n
• Federal DEA/State CDS certification in good standing
\n
• Existing facility medical staff member in good standing or successful application and credentialing at facility
\n
• Internal Medicine/Family Practice board certification/eligibility
\n
• Applicable screening and background checks
\n
