Deli Specialist

Our Deli Specialists will prep and prepare food for the sandwich station while maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Deli Specialist is responsible for selecting and packaging sandwiches ordered by customers, filling and maintaining products and displays, preparing special orders and party trays and operating meat and cheese slicers, oven, fryer, microwave, cutting tools, scale and other deli equipment. Cutting edge skills - specialty - we offer up to $25/hr to those with exceptional deli experience!

Duties and responsibilities

• Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance;
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products;
• Ensures a clean working area
• Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise. Check and verify grocery receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered. Check products for quality, count and condition;
• Take stock to storage or shelf areas;
• Open cartons and price, display, store or break down items according to established Procedures and Policies;
• Keep manager or other designated personnel aware of low inventory conditions or spoilage problems;
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods;
• Assist in preparation of food products;
• Wait on customers including slicing, cutting, weighing, packaging, and pricing merchandise;
• Comply fully with safety policies and procedures;
• Perform other duties and assignments as directed;

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Must have experience working in a Deli with working knowledge of how to cut prepared meats and cheese
• Must have experience on making deli salads
• Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
• Will provide excellent customer service to all customers placing orders or who have questions at the Deli counter
