Description of the position:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all aircraft maintenance layover planning, job card management, and quotation processes between the customer, Production, and Planning teams. Drive strategic leadership by ensuring maintenance layovers are expertly estimated, prepared, and executed, aligning contractual obligations with optimal resource allocation, capacity planning, and regulatory compliance. Deputize for the Planning & Engineering Manager as required, and actively contribute to organizational development through non-operational projects, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence. Act as a role model and mentor for the Planning team.

Essential responsibilites:

Maintenance Planning & Project Preparation

• Evaluate customer work packages including EOs, SBs, component changes, deferred defects, NDT tasks, tooling, and maintenance data.
• Identify ADs, CDCCL, CPCP, duplicate inspections, and other critical tasks.
• Estimate manhours, materials, tooling, and TAT for planning packages and commercial proposals.
• Consult regarding slot allocations and capability details.
• Prepare capacity plans, manhour loads, milestone schedules, and critical-path sequencing.
• Plan and re-plan maintenance events based on findings, customer requests, and service level agreements.
• Prepare routine and incoming open-item job cards; raise defects from Tech Log, Cabin Log, and DBC.
• Modify, add, or cancel job cards as needed.
• Plan special requirements during layovers such as weighing, checking flights, or other operational tasks.

Coordination & Communication

• Act as the primary contact for planning and job card activities for the assigned project.
• Coordinate with Production, Production Supervisors, Quality, and customers.
• Support clarification of technical issues, work scope, and prioritization of critical defects.
• Participate in Calc Reviews, Kick-off meetings, pre-input meetings, Program Reviews, Wash-ups, and other project-related meetings.

 

Documentation, Handover & Reporting

• Ensure timely, correct, and complete transfer of all planning documentation to Production.
• Prepare project plans, progress reports, and post-layover reports.
• Maintain and update CRI data based on operational experience and customer feedback.
• Certify Planning Statements and ensure accurate transfer into the Bill of Work.
• Contribute to the development of best practices in planning and job card processes.
• Participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives across PED sites and engineering teams.

 

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure FAA Part 145 compliance and adherence to RSQCM manual, Repair Station Training Program, and the IQ MOVE processes.
• Interpret OEM and customer technical documentation accurately and translate into correct job cards.
• Perform quality checks on received documentation and support internal/external audits.
• Identify process inefficiencies and drive improvements within planning and production areas.
• Support alignment and standardization of processes and collaborate with Quality to validate maintenance data and ensure job card accuracy and compliance.
• Implement TPM/JPM (or other customer specific requirements) into planning activities.
• Perform q/scans and follow up on raised q/stars.
• Support quality audits and contribute to updates of internal manuals and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement and operational performance monitoring.

 

Leadership & Technical Expertise

• Mentor and guide Maintenance Planners.
• Support onboarding and training of newcomers.
• Deputize for the Planning & Engineering Manager when required.
• Represent PED on planning and job card–related topics during customer or OEM discussions.
• Participate in strategic or cross-functional projects within PED.
• Take an active role in the implementation of solutions for process improvements within the department and production site(s). Work with Production to ensure KPI adherence and feedback deviation to PED.
• Lead process optimization, cross-functional coordination with customers, production, and Planning team.

Education, skills and competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Engineering or in relevant engineering subject.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in aircraft maintenance / design / manufacturing environment
• Professional training in aircraft maintenance with a minimum of three years of experience in aircraft maintenance / design / manufacturing environment
• Holder of a company authorization (if applicable) or relevant experience to enable faster acceptance of authorization
• Good understanding of creation and control of customer maintenance programs and MPD
• Strong understanding of airworthiness and FAA requirements.
• Excellent planning, analytical, and organizational abilities.
• Skilled in interpreting technical documentation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP/mJobCard advantageous.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• High attention to detail and quality.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
