Position Overview
We are seeking a technically strong and client-focused Client Advisory Services Senior Manager to join our growing advisory practice. In this role, you will serve as a fractional CFO and trusted financial executive for a portfolio of clients across the hospitality, construction, real estate, and professional services industries. You will provide executive-level financial leadership – attending leadership meetings, advising on capital strategy, and presenting financial insights to Boards and C-Suite stakeholders – while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. You will also oversee month-end and year-end close processes, lead budgeting and cash flow forecasting, and support M&A transaction accounting. This is a high-impact role for a technically deep accounting professional who is equally comfortable advising a CEO on growth strategy and driving process improvements across engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Fractional CFO & Client Advisory
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned client accounts, building strong relationships grounded in technical credibility and responsiveness.
- Serve as the embedded financial executive for clients, attending leadership meetings, board sessions, and strategic planning processes to provide CFO-level guidance and support.
- Identify and communicate accounting risks, opportunities, and process improvement recommendations to client stakeholders.
- Present financial results, insights, and recommendations to Boards of Directors, C-Suite executives, and senior finance leadership, translating complex accounting information into clear, actionable narratives.
- Partner with integrated internal teams across tax, assurance, and advisory to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
Technical Accounting & GAAP Center of Excellence
- Manage and oversee accounting operations, including preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Develop, analyze, and present financial statements, management dashboards, and KPI reports tailored to each client’s industry and stage of growth.
- Review and evaluate significant accounting transactions, including identification, research, and guidance on complex technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.
- Lead and support efficient month-end and year-end close processes across client engagements.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Coordinate and oversee regulatory and tax reporting requirements as applicable.
- Where applicable, manage the external audit process, including preparation or review of all auditor requests and supporting schedules.
- Serve as the practice's primary technical accounting resource, providing authoritative guidance on complex U.S. GAAP topics including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), business combinations, and equity compensation.
- Develop and maintain a library of internal technical memos, accounting policy templates, and decision trees for use across the practice.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex technical accounting questions requiring senior-level judgment across client engagements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and professional growth.
- Review and provide feedback on the work of associates and senior accountants before delivery to clients.
- Contribute to training initiatives and knowledge sharing across the practice.
Process & Systems Optimization
- Design and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across client engagements.
- Champion documentation standards and best practices in financial reporting and close processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; graduate degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience in a fractional CFO, CFO, or senior financial leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards; experience with technical accounting research and documentation.
- Proven experience managing and reviewing financial statements, account reconciliations, and close processes across multiple clients.
- Strong track record of leading accounting teams with a hands‑on, detail‑oriented leadership style.
- Experience in a CPA firm, professional services, or outsourced accounting environment required.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, capital raises, or investor readiness preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to advise clients or senior stakeholders on complex accounting matters with clarity and confidence.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial results, strategic insights, and recommendations clearly to Boards of Directors, C‑Suite executives, and business owners.
