This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring the operational excellence, innovation, and future-readiness of our broadcast and streaming infrastructure. Reporting directly to the President and General Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Division Senior Vice President of Engineering, the Director of Technology will play a critical role in shaping the technical vision of a modern television station and streaming operation in one of the nation’s most competitive media markets.Key Responsibilities:Develop and execute a forward-looking technology strategy aligned with organizational goalsLead all engineering and technical operations for broadcast and digital streaming platformsOversee technical infrastructure supporting news production, content distribution, and multi-platform deliveryDrive innovation across television and streaming workflowsEnsure regulatory compliance, signal integrity, cybersecurity, and operational reliabilityCollaborate with station an division leadership on capital planning, vendor relationships, and technology budgetsRecruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering specialist teamPartner with Director of News Operations and Production to prioritize station projectsQualifications:Proven leadership experience in broadcast engineering and/or multi-platform media environmentsDeep expertise in television transmission, studio systems, newsroom workflows, and streaming technologiesStrong strategic planning and project management skillsExperience leading technical transformation initiativesExcellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and executive leadershipKnowledge of FCC regulations and industry best practicesBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferredCBS News and Stations, brings together the power of CBS News, 28 owned television stations in 17 major U.S. markets, the CBS News Streaming Network, CBS News Streaming local platforms, local websites and cbsnews.com, under one umbrella. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
