Vars Position: Head Varsity Volleyball Coach (Girls) Location: Carolina Day School - Asheville, NC Employment Type: Part-Time/Seasonal (Fall Sports Season) Carolina Day School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach to join our athletics team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Athletics Department, support and enhance all aspects of the Varsity Girls Volleyball program, with a focus on communication, player development, and program culture. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about volleyball and values building meaningful relationships with student-athletes. The Head Coach will play a key role in shaping the daily execution and long-term vision of the program. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement practice plans that build technical, tactical, and physical skills appropriate for high school athletes. Lead and manage the varsity team during practices, games, and tournaments, ensuring competitive performance and sportsmanship. Oversee player development, including assessing skills, setting individual goals, and promoting academic and athletic growth. Collaborate with the athletic department on scheduling games, events, and community outreach initiatives to promote the volleyball program and enhance school spirit. Assist in identifying and recruiting prospective student-athletes, both within the school and through local youth programs, to sustain and grow team participation. Maintain communication with players, parents, and school staff regarding team updates, expectations, and academic eligibility. Promote a positive team culture, emphasizing leadership, discipline, accountability, and respect both on and off the field. Qualifications: Previous coaching experience or high-level playing experience at the high school or collegiate level required Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect with and motivate student-athletes Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team-oriented coaching staff High energy, positive attitude, and a growth mindset Desired Qualities: A coach who values relationship-building as a core element of coaching Vision-driven and capable of helping chart a path toward long-term program goals Enthusiastic about mentoring young athletes and fostering a positive, high-energy team environment Committed to using volleyball as a platform for personal, academic, and athletic development.
