Valet Shift Captain/Supervisor - Fairmont Austin (Previous Supervisory Experience Required)

At Towne Park, the Guest Service Captain orchestrates the service experience for hotel guests while ensuring service standards are met or exceeded. Under the direction of the Account Manager, the Captain coordinates and administers tasks, troubleshoots issues, and makes judgment calls when necessary. Responsibilities Maintains a pleasant, friendly, and professional demeanor with guests, client staff members, and coworkers; greets guests within 30 seconds of arrival. Participates in “The Show” and delivers “Aggressive Hospitality” to guests. Opens all vehicle and hotel doors for guests, checks in arriving guests, explains vehicle parking and retrieval procedures, parks and retrieves vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously. Uses proper phone etiquette, posts up in appropriate areas when not assisting guests, and conducts an effective room presentation when providing bell services. Assists with the delivery and pick‑up of items to guest rooms, provides directions, taxis, reservations, and other inquiries. Maintains a detailed knowledge of the client’s facility, including outlets, meeting rooms, amenities, main attractions, parking rates, and other pertinent information. Promotes a teamwork philosophy through leading by example and effective communication skills; assigns coworkers to routine roles and reduces staff during the shift when business conditions dictate. Issues claim checks, collects them, completes ticket information, secures keys on a belt clip or in a locked key box, and records all vehicle information accurately. Ensures staff do not provide “lift” services to guests, checks wheelchairs for safe operation prior to each use, cleans wheelchairs after use, and protects guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. Assists the Account Manager with building work schedules, makes calls on behalf of the manager, collects revenue, completes cash drop slips and envelopes, and reconciles revenue and tickets at the end of every shift. Completes shift report and other shift paperwork with detail and accuracy. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a criminal background, MVR, and drug screen. Must complete the Wheelchair Safety Training course provided by Towne Park. Six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to drive manual transmission. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking Standard English; able to comprehend and write simple correspondence. Effective presentation skills in one‑on‑one and small group situations. Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Mathematical skills: add and subtract three‑digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s, use American money units, understand 24‑hour and military time, and apply rates applicable to time passed. Compensation & Benefits Base hourly pay ranges from $13–$16 per hour plus $17–$18 per hour in tips. Eligibility depends on job classification, length of employment, and hours worked. Seasonal and temporary roles are not eligible for these benefits.
