Bookkeeper (Part-time)

Job Title: Bookkeeper Location: Metro Detroit area, primarily remote, occasionally in Troy, Mich., office Type of Position: Part time (24-32 hours per week), flexible scheduling Compensation: Hourly base, plus target-based monthly incentive, annual profit-sharing eligible MBE Group is a full-service B2B and B2C marketing communications agency, focused on the rapidly changing global mobility, tech, and consumer goods industries. Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable Generate and issue monthly client invoices for retainer fees, project work, and media/vendor pass-throughs Track payments across ~35 client accounts and maintain aging reports Follow up on outstanding invoices and past-due balances Apply client payments and reconcile deposits Accounts Payable Process and pay vendor, freelancer, and subcontractor invoices Manage media vendor billing and reconcile against client campaigns Maintain vendor files and W-9 documentation Prepare 1099s at year-end General Bookkeeping Maintain accurate records in agency software (Workamajig) Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly Categorize all income and expenses accurately Maintain a clean and organized chart of accounts Payroll Support Coordinate semi-monthly payroll through payroll provider Reconcile payroll accounts Reporting & Analysis Maintain monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets Maintain cash flow reports and revenue forecasts Tax & Compliance Support Prepare financial records for CPA at year-end Ensure timely payment of quarterly estimated taxes Required Qualifications 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a service-based or agency environment Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets or similar spreadsheet software Strong understanding of cash basis accounting Experience with client invoicing and managing multiple billing schedules Familiarity with 1099 preparation and independent contractor management High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications Experience in marketing, advertising, or creative agency setting Familiarity with project management or time-tracking tools Experience with media billing, markup tracking, or pass-through client expenses Associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field Key Competencies Discretion and confidentiality with sensitive financial data and client-related NDAs Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, vendors, and staff Problem-solving mindset to resolve billing discrepancies Reliability and consistency in a flexible, part-time schedule #J-18808-Ljbffr
