Event Security – Part Time

Hiring Part Time Armed and Unarmed Certified Security Guards

Job Brief:

• We are seeking vigilant and dependable Event Security Staff members to ensure the safety and security of our event venue contracts.
• Your duties will include implementing safety measures, responding to security breaches, and providing assistance to guests and employees.
• You should be proficient in risk assessment and have excellent observation skills.
• The ideal candidate will also have previous experience in a security role, with the ability to act responsibly and decisively in high-stress situations.

One of the first lines of defense in event security is robust screening before attendees are allowed access to the venue. This typically involves:

• Checkpoint Screening: Located on the perimeter, where bags are checked, and personal searches are conducted for concealed weapons or alcohol.
• Use of Metal Detectors: Depending on the event, metal detectors or hand-held wands may be used to scan guests.
• Preventing Issues Early: Effective security screening can prevent potential problems from the outset, ensuring a safer environment for everyone.

Managing venue access and parking is a critical element of event security:

• Emergency Access Routes: Planning for emergency access is essential to avoid overcrowding and ensure quick response times.
• Traffic Management: Events often have a single start and finish time, requiring security teams to manage large volumes of vehicles arriving and leaving simultaneously.
• Vehicle Protection: Ensuring parked vehicles are secure from theft or vandalism while attendees are at the event.
• Access Point Control: Monitoring all entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized access.

Preventing incidents in large crowds is a major responsibility:

What qualities make a good Event Security Staff?

• A good Event Security Staff member is vigilant and observant, able to spot potential issues before they escalate.
• They should be calm under pressure, able to handle conflicts or emergencies effectively and professionally.
• Good physical fitness and stamina are also important, as the role often involves standing for long periods and potentially dealing with physical altercations.

Requirements:

• Valid New York State Armed or Unarmed Security Guard Card
• Copies of training certificates including:
  • 8hr Pre Assignment
  • 16hr OJT
  • 8hr Annual Training
  • 47hr Firearms Training (If applicable)
  • 8hr Armed Annual (If applicable)
  • Handcuffing and Pepper spray certification (Not Required until hired)
  • RedCross First Aid/CPR and AED current training (Not Required until hired)
  • NARCAN training (Not Required until hired)
  • FEMA IS-100c Incident Command Certificate (Not Required until hired)
• Access/own smart phone for scheduling purposes
• Valid NYS Driver’s License. (Events are across region)
• Duty Belt, Black Boots, ·Black Pants (Either Military/Police Style), Flashlight, Handcuffs/Pepper Spray, if trained
