Registered Nurse (RN)-Nurse Resident, August 2026, Neuroscience Multispecialty

Job Summary The Nurse-Resident role focuses on attending quality and core curriculum classes, actively participating in professional development workshops, peer support groups, and completing all clinical competencies and validation requirements. The candidate works under the direct and indirect supervision of the Clinical Education Team while refining nursing knowledge and skills. The nominee actively participates in managing clinical situations under a licensed RN supervisor, ensuring compliance with Prisma Health’s Compassion Standards and core policies (licensure, training, health screenings, attendance, dress code, confidentiality, infection control, medication administration). Accountabilities Assessment: Collects patient data, completes required forms, prioritizes needs, identifies referrals, interprets diagnostics, and performs assessments using critical thinking under RN supervision (20%). Planning Care: Develops plans based on the nursing process, includes patient/family, coordinates multidisciplinary referrals under RN supervision (20%). Implementing/Managing Care: Provides treatment and procedures per standards, communicates procedures, delivers discharge teaching, recognizes emergencies and initiates advanced therapy, advocates patient rights and ethical issues under RN supervision (20%). Evaluation: Documents care delivered, records variations, observes and implements measures under RN supervision (20%). Leadership: Delegates care, integrates cost‑effective measures, monitors safety, resolves issues, and manages staffing and census under RN supervision (20%). Supervisory/Management Responsibility This is a non‑management position that reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements Associate’s degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing. Work experience may NOT substitute for education. Candidates with more than 12 months of experience are not eligible. Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses Licensed RN in South Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. In Lieu Of Temporary license/Graduate Nurse licensure may be accepted upon receipt of diploma, NCLEX testing date, and provisional status until NCLEX completion. The Graduate Nurse works under the licensed RN until certification. Other Required Skills and Experience After Jan 1, 2019, all newly hired RN’s at Prisma Health must have an ADN or BSN degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education or the S.C. State Board of Nursing. The Graduate Nurse completes all clinical skills under RN supervision. Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to treat patients; additional training may be required.
