Engineering Director

Location: Orlando, FL or Salt Lake City, UT (Relocation Assistance Available) Employment Type: Full‑Time – Direct Hire Work Arrangement: Primarily Onsite • Schedule: Monday–Friday • Travel: Approximately 30% regional (reimbursed) Compensation: $115,000–$155,000 annually (DOE) • Discretionary annual bonus • $80/month phone allowance Position Overview Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead engineering design and commissioning operations for a growing organization. The role oversees multidisciplinary engineering and commissioning teams, ensures successful project delivery, maintains strong client relationships, and supports business development initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering design and commissioning teams to deliver projects that meet client requirements, quality standards, budgets, and schedules. Direct project managers, engineers, commissioning agents, commissioning technicians, and other technical staff. Assign projects based on team expertise, workload, and project requirements. Review and approve engineering designs, commissioning plans, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client expectations. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and key stakeholders. Support business development efforts by participating in client presentations, proposal development, and marketing initiatives. Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management for engineering and commissioning staff. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve operational processes and project execution. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, operational efficiencies, and business growth. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. PMI Project Management certification required. Minimum five (5) years of project management experience within engineering design or commissioning. Prior leadership experience managing engineering and commissioning teams across multiple concurrent projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project. Strong knowledge of engineering design, commissioning processes, project management, and building systems. Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to clients and executive leadership. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality results. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting business development and client relationship management.
