WELDING ENGINEER NEEDED - Greater Nashville Area

A Leading Automotive Supplier just outside of Nashville, Tennessee needs a Welding Engineer. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation. Some Overtime and Travel may be Required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

\n
• Works on Corporate strategic projects.
\n
• Develop new Welding Technologies related to new products requirement.
\n
• Support Operations in acquiring the needed level of equipment knowledge.
\n
• Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
\n
• Specify welding equipment, welding consumables, electrical and mechanical systems, robotic systems, and any related components associated with the welding process.
\n
• Assist in development of the weld quality control process.
\n
• Guides develops and tests welding methods, materials, processes and results.
\n
• Assist Quality Assurance department in maintaining weld integrity. Interface with manufacturing and maintenance to resolve welding and welding system issues.
\n
• Assist with MRO crib activities.
\n
• Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
\n
• Assist in the integration, start-up and debug of plant floor welding equipment.
\n
• Champion assigned engineering changes, communicate and coordinate accordingly to all departments.
\n
• Train, coach and mentor the welding process for weld engineers, manufacturing and skilled trades colleagues.
\n
• Direct and/or participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8-D reports, department meetings, etc.).
\n
• Review and resolve all weld cut and etch and destruct related issues.
\n
• Initiate cross-functional equipment design reviews.
\n
• Support new model launches and improvement teams.
\n
• Support tool tryouts at supplier and in-house capability runs.
\n

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

\n
• Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; five years plus related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of Education & Experience.
\n
• Ability to work with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
\n
• Ability to work with MQ1 and QAD Database
\n

• MIG and Spot-Welding Expertise

• Experience with Body-in-White (BIW) Structural Components

• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with Laser Welding Systems and related equipment

• Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) experience
\n
• Process improvement and continuous improvement experience
\n
• Experience working across multiple manufacturing processes
\n
• Knowledge and exposure to non-welding functional areas
\n
• OEM experience with structural component and system development
\n
• Exposure to and experience with Projection Welding Processes
\n
