Part-Time Dental Hygienist — Tuesdays & Thursdays — Johnstown, NY Dr. Tamara Dunlap, DDS is looking for a Part-Time Dental Hygienist to join our team in Johnstown, NY, working Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tamara Dunlap, DDS Dr. Tamara Dunlap has been a familiar, trusted face in Johnstown dentistry for well over a decade. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and a member of the ADA, New York State Dental Association, and Fourth District Dental Society, Dr. Dunlap has built her practice on warmth and word-of-mouth trust that keeps patients coming back — and referring their whole family. Patients consistently describe her office as friendly, professional, and genuinely comfortable, praising a team that takes the time to listen, explains every step clearly, and has a knack for solving problems other offices couldn’t. It’s hands-on general dentistry — cleanings, fillings, and everything in between — delivered with a personal touch. Position Summary We’re on the hunt for a licensed, compassionate Part time Dental Hygienist who’s ready to make every patient’s visit shine! You’ll deliver top-notch preventive care, become the go-to educator our patients trust for all things oral health, and team up with Dr. Dunlap to deliver outstanding clinical care. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, a natural people-person, and brings a personality that lights up the whole operatory. What You'll Do Deliver fantastic dental cleanings — prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing — with skill and a smile Conduct periodontal assessments and charting Capture and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays Administer preventive treatments like fluoride and sealants Spot early signs of oral disease and loop in the dentist right away Educate and empower patients on oral hygiene and preventive care Walk patients through their treatment plans and reinforce the dentist’s recommendations Send patients home with clear, friendly post-treatment instructions Keep patient records accurate, organized, and up to date Champion OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols Sterilize instruments and keep the operatory sparkling Team up with the crew to keep patient flow smooth and efficient Qualifications Required: Valid Dental Hygienist license in New York State Current CPR/BLS certification Preferred: Previous experience in a dental or clinical setting Familiarity with Dentrix Experience with periodontal therapy and patient education programs Ability to administer local anesthesia Skills & Competencies A bubbly, upbeat personality with top-notch interpersonal and communication skills Sharp attention to detail and clinical precision A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care Confidence working independently and as part of a close-knit team Great time management and organizational skills Schedule & Pay Employment Type: Part Time Schedule: Tuesdays 8:30 AM–4:30 PM & Thursdays 8:30 AM–4:30 PM Competitive compensation per hour, depending on experience Enjoy meaningful, hands-on patient care two days a week within a supportive, collaborative practice that feels like family.
