Senior Ecologist

Our client is a growing environmental consulting firm seeking a Senior Ecologist to lead natural resources and environmental compliance projects across transportation, infrastructure, energy, water, and land development sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ecological professional looking to take on project leadership responsibilities while supporting business growth and mentoring junior staff. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage biological resource assessments, habitat evaluations, and ecological field studies. Oversee threatened and endangered species assessments, agency consultations, and permitting efforts. Prepare and review technical reports, biological evaluations, environmental assessments, and regulatory documentation. Support environmental review processes under NEPA, ESA, CWA, and other federal, state, and local regulations. Manage project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and client communications. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams. Provide technical leadership for wetland delineations, jurisdictional waters assessments, and natural resource permitting efforts. Mentor and develop junior ecologists and environmental scientists. Support business development activities including proposal preparation, client relationship management, and strategic growth initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field (Master's preferred). 8+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting, ecological consulting, or natural resources management. Strong knowledge of NEPA, ESA, Clean Water Act, and environmental permitting requirements. Experience managing ecological and environmental compliance projects from planning through execution. Proven ability to prepare high-quality technical reports and environmental documentation. Experience coordinating with agencies such as USACE, USFWS, TPWD, state agencies, and local jurisdictions. Strong project management, communication, and client-facing skills. Existing client relationships and business development experience are highly desirable. Preferred Experience Transportation and infrastructure projects. Renewable energy development. Wetland delineations and waters of the U.S. assessments.
