Transform Lives Through Communication in Beautiful Chesapeake, Virginia – Become Our Next Speech / Language Pathologist
Imagine your next role sparking the flames of hope and recovery through the power of speech. As a Speech / Language Pathologist in the charming city of Chesapeake, Virginia, your expertise will extend far beyond assessing and addressing communication and swallowing disorders. Your dedication will open doors to potential, empower individuals, and create meaningful connections — from children mastering their first sounds to adults regaining the gift of spoken language.
This position offers a remarkable opportunity to work with diverse populations—treating individuals across various age groups in an environment that supports both outpatient therapy and occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in guiding children through their language milestones, assisting adults with speech rehabilitation post-stroke, or supporting seniors in cognitive improvements, you'll discover the joy of making an impact and the flexibility to tailor your caseload to your strengths.
Conduct thorough evaluations for patients spanning pediatric to geriatric groups using both standardized assessments and observational methods.
Create individualized treatment plans targeting both short-term objectives and long-term developmental goals related to communication and swallowing.
Deliver focused one-on-one speech therapy sessions addressing essential areas such as language, fluency, voice, and swallowing challenges.
Work in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, including occupational and physical therapists, nurses, and family members, to implement comprehensive care strategies.
Provide education to patients and their families to facilitate progress in non-clinical environments.
Participate in inpatient therapy evaluations and interventions when necessary, ensuring a seamless treatment experience.
Maintain clear, precise documentation in line with federal and state requirements.
Continuously enhance your proficiency by engaging in professional development and collaborating with peers.
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized and accredited institution.
Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet certified by ASHA.
State licensure as a Speech / Language Pathologist.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is highly preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Expertise in evidence-based practices for all age ranges, coupled with a deep knowledge of both developmental and acquired challenges related to speech, language, and swallowing.
Outstanding communication skills, enabling effective interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Adeptness in adjusting therapy techniques to accommodate varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills for clinical problem-solving.
Comfort utilizing electronic medical records and documentation protocols.
Attractive compensation aligned with experience and qualifications.
Flexible work schedules to promote a healthy work-life equilibrium.
Options to focus on specific demographics such as pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
Generous paid time off (PTO) along with holiday compensation.
Comprehensive insurance packages including medical, dental, vision, and life coverage.
Support for continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
A collaborative atmosphere centered on teamwork, quality care, and ongoing learning.
In this role, you will not only provide needed therapy — you will integrate into a community that is dedicated to restoring expression, enhancing communication skills, and celebrating the joy in the smallest interactions: the ability to understand and be understood.
You'll join healthcare professionals who consider each other family, within a workplace that prioritizes collective growth over competition. Every client carries a unique narrative, and you will play a pivotal role in crafting how their story is told.
The city of Chesapeake offers a unique blend of urban vitality and serene nature that's both invigorating and peaceful. With its picturesque waterways and lush landscapes, it invites exploration and relaxation in equal measure. Great day trips can easily become weekend adventures, from visiting historical sites to enjoying expansive parks perfect for outdoor activities.
Community festivals, farmers markets, and vibrant local culture foster connections among residents, while local cuisine reflects a rich tapestry of flavors. You can savor fresh seafood, partake in farm-to-table experiences, and delight in culinary innovations that celebrate the area's bounty.
Chesapeake is also a hub for professionals, thanks to its advantageous proximity to robust healthcare systems, zero state income tax, and a cost of living that makes the finer things in life accessible.
Whether you are launching your career or are an experienced clinician looking for fresh opportunities, Chesapeake offers a nurturing environment for both personal and professional flourishing.
We seek a passionate Speech / Language Pathologist who is inspired by outcomes as much as by human connection. You are someone who has a vision for every quiet child, a determination for every recovering adult, and a commitment to helping others find their voice.
You might be a pediatric expert wishing to delve into adult therapies—or perhaps a clinician with a background in neuro rehab eager to embrace early intervention strategies.
If service drives you and empathy guides you, we are excited to have you join our team.
If you believe that speech transcends mere sound and that therapy is about building relationships and fostering trust, we would love to connect with you. If you see laughter as an integral part of language, this role could be the perfect fit for you.
Join us in a community that cherishes communication and connection, understanding the strength it takes to embark on new beginnings. Apply today, and share your passion for helping others find their voices.
