Job Title: General Laborer
Job Description
The General Laborer supports facility projects in a large industrial environment by assisting technicians, welders, and fabricators with the assembly, breakdown, and movement of structural fixtures. These fixtures and support structures are used to hold submarine and boat components in place so other tradespeople can safely perform their work. The role involves hands-on work with hand tools and power tools, moving materials throughout the facility, and helping erect mezzanine scaffolding and other support structures according to instructions from team leads.
Responsibilities

• Assist technicians, welders, and fabricators with building, assembling, and breaking down structural fixtures and support structures within the facility.
• Move materials and components around the warehouse and production areas by hand to ensure workspaces are organized and ready for upcoming projects.
• Use hand tools and impact guns to tighten bolts and fasteners as part of the assembly and disassembly of fixtures and scaffolding.
• Help erect mezzanine scaffolding and other support structures that will hold submarine and boat parts in place for employees working on them.
• Follow instructions from leads and experienced team members to determine what needs to be assembled or moved next, with minimal blueprint reading required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area by organizing tools, equipment, and materials and following established safety procedures.
• Handle basic construction and assembly tasks, ensuring structures are secure, stable, and positioned correctly for use by other trades.
• Support ongoing facility projects by preparing, putting up, taking down, and storing structural components in designated warehouse areas.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience performing general labor tasks in an industrial, construction, or warehouse environment.
• Proficiency using common hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and other basic tools for assembly work.
• Ability to safely operate power tools, including impact guns, for tightening bolts and assembling structures.
• Experience assembling structures or fixtures using both hand and power tools.
• Capability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials throughout the facility.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions from leads and work effectively with minimal blueprint reading.
• Strong awareness of safety practices in an industrial or construction setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction, assembly, or related general labor roles is beneficial.
• Comfort working around large industrial structures and equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, welders, and fabricators as part of a project team.
• Reliability and willingness to support changing project needs as structures are put up, taken down, and stored.

Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Rhode Island within a large industrial facility that includes extensive warehouse space and areas where submarine and boat components are supported for work by other trades. The team manages structures and fixtures in the facility but does not work directly on the manufactured parts themselves. Work involves frequent use of hand tools and power tools, including impact guns, in an active construction and assembly setting. The schedule is a first-shift role, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing regular daytime hours. The environment is hands-on, physical, and safety-focused, with workers moving materials, assembling scaffolding and support structures, and storing components neatly in the warehouse as projects change.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Kingstown, RI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
