We are seeking a professional and dependable Switchboard Operator to join a busy office in Opelousas. This position is responsible for managing a high-volume multi-line phone system, directing calls to the appropriate departments, and providing excellent customer service to callers. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a professional phone presence, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.



Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Additional customer service, business, or office training is beneficial.

Experience Requirements

• Previous switchboard, receptionist, customer service, or administrative experience preferred
• Experience managing multiple phone lines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Professional phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills

Job Duties

• Answer and manage up to 8 busy phone lines
• Transfer calls to appropriate departments and extensions
• Provide accurate information and assistance to callers
• Maintain a professional and courteous telephone presence
• Relay messages accurately and promptly
• Assist with general administrative and office support tasks
• Handle incoming calls efficiently in a high-volume environment

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to sit for extended periods while answering calls
• Ability to use a computer, telephone, and office equipment
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally throughout the workday
• Ability to multitask in a busy office setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous customer service, call center, retail, office support, or administrative experience is preferred.
• Experience working with CRM software, order processing systems, or customer databases is beneficial.
• Bilingual communication skills may be considered an asset depending on the position.
• Individuals who demonstrate patience, professionalism, adaptability, and excellent communication skills are well positioned for success as a Switchboard Operator.
