Amgen seeks a Scientist for the Pathology Laboratory in South San Francisco to develop and apply tissue-based assays, including multiplex immunohistochemistry and digital image analysis, supporting preclinical research, pharmacodynamics, and biomarker discovery across therapeutic areas.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, validate, and standardize histopathology assays using FFPE samples in colorimetric and immunofluorescent formats
- Generate, analyze, and interpret tissue-based data using imaging modalities and digital pathology tools for target qualification and biomarker development
- Collaborate with pathologists and translational teams to deliver data supporting mechanism-of-action studies, model development, and toxicity assessments
- Maintain documentation and communicate results through laboratory information systems, databases, and team presentations
Requirements
- Doctorate degree, or Master's degree with 2+ years relevant research experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years relevant experience
- PhD or Master's in cell biology, molecular biology, or related discipline (preferred)
- 2+ years molecular pathology experience, preferably in industry
- Expertise in IHC, multiplex IHC, ISH, and immunofluorescence imaging methods
- Experience with digital pathology platforms such as HALO or Visiopharm
- Familiarity with automated staining systems (Ventana, Leica Bond, or IntelliPATH preferred)
- Strong communication, organizational, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
