JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Hospitalist/Nocturnist Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Abingdon, VA Service Setting: Community Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: August 1, 2026 Ongoing Clinical Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7a 7p and 7p 7a PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults and Geriatrics Patient Volume/Census: TBD Admissions: Included Rounding: Included Case Mix: General Hospitalist Medicine FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 124 Acute Care Beds including 14 ICU and 18 PCU beds EMR System: Epic Office Equipment Available: Standard inpatient hospital equipment Specialty Backup Available: Multidisciplinary inpatient teams Support Staff Available: Dedicated NP/PA Admitter Day Coverage: 4 MDs and 1 NP Night Coverage: 1 MD Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage Additional Facility Features: GME programs available PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Rate: TBD Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Inpatient admissions and rounding Acute inpatient medical management General hospitalist coverage JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active unrestricted medical license required Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Board Eligible candidates must be within 7 years of graduation DEA: Active DEA required Certifications: TBD Minimum 2 years prior hospitalist experience preferred Fellowship preferred Physicians only Telehealth experience not required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide inpatient hospitalist/nocturnist coverage Manage admissions, rounding, and inpatient care Collaborate with NP/PA support staff and multidisciplinary teams Maintain accurate Epic documentation Provide quality patient-centered inpatient care
