Scientist, MS&T Materials and Cryogenics Science

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Scientist to manage materials and cryogenics throughout biopharmaceutical manufacturing lifecycles. The role applies materials science principles to qualification, risk assessment, and technical strategies for raw materials, excipients, and single-use systems in late-stage and commercial operations.

Responsibilities

• Apply materials science principles to lifecycle management of raw materials, excipients, consumables, and single-use systems
• Support material selection, qualification, implementation, change controls, and technical transfers
• Lead or assist with material investigations, including root-cause analysis and impact assessment
• Prepare and review protocols, technical assessments, risk assessments, and regulatory documentation
• Analyze data, interpret results, and develop scientifically justified recommendations for manufacturing and compliance

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific or engineering discipline
• Minimum 6 years of experience (advanced degree time counts toward requirement)
• Thorough knowledge of materials science, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or polymer science
• Knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing materials including excipients, filters, tubing, and single-use systems
• Working knowledge of cGMP, CMC expectations, and regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, troubleshoot problems, and apply risk management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in matrixed, cross-functional environment
