This direct hire opportunity is for a Staff Pharmacist position located in Grants, NM. The pharmacist will play a critical role in supporting patient care by preparing and dispensing medications, monitoring drug therapies, and providing drug information to healthcare providers. This role is essential in overseeing pharmacy operations and clinical services within the hospital setting. In the absence of the Pharmacy Director, this position may also be required to assume leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare, fill, label, and dispense drugs including parenteral medications and IV solutions, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards.
- Monitor patient drug therapies for safety, efficacy, and appropriateness, providing clinical assessments and communication tailored to age-specific criteria.
- Offer drug information, education, and consultation to physicians, nurses, patients, and healthcare teams.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory and ensure accurate records in compliance with regulations.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff while participating in formulary and automated dispensing machine management.
- Engage in emergency response activities, including participation in Rapid Response Teams and Code Blue events.
- Complete annual competency evaluations and continuing education to maintain professional development.
- Adhere strictly to compliance standards and report any concerns as required.
- Foster effective collaboration with all healthcare departments.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy (PharmD preferred).
- Current, active New Mexico pharmacist license.
- 1–2 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with robust clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
- Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficient with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technology.
- Detail-oriented with a dedication to patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 40 pounds, and stand or walk for up to 8 hours.
