Risk and Operations Analyst

Help run payment operations, risk, and loss recovery at a fast-growing fintech, and automate the grunt work as you go. About Payload We build embedded payment infrastructure for platforms and enterprises, processing billions in transactions annually. Small, high-output team, automation-focused, with little bureaucracy to get in your way. What you'll do: Underwriting & risk: decision merchant applications, manage on-hold payments, transaction monitoring, Proof of Authorization reviews Client Communication: Take calls and manage tickets related to risk and operational tasks. Loss management: ACH dispute & chargeback recovery end-to-end, NSF/funding-failure recovery (incl. same-day outreach), demand & collections Compliance & partners: banking-partner inquiries, audit-ready documentation, chargeback representment Automation: spot manual work, help plan and/or build workflows, use AI tools to do more with less What we're looking for Background in payments, fintech, banking, or financial services Hands-on with ACH, chargebacks, disputes, or payment risk Strong attention to detail under time pressure; clear, professional writing Sound judgment and problem-solving skills Genuinely interested in AI and automation, and you already use or experiment with tools like Claude Code or Codex You’ll report to the Head of Operations and work across risk, operations, and CX.
