Cherry Bekaert Staffing & Recruiting is supporting a well-established, privately held construction company in the Virginia Beach area with their search for a Part-Time Staff Accountant . This is a stable, long-term opportunity with a collaborative and flexible team environment.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- 20-25 hours per week, fully onsite
- Required: Mondays and Tuesdays (6-8 hours each day)
- One additional onsite day of your choosing
- Casual, team-oriented office culture with strong flexibility
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Assist with weekly payroll (primary processing completed on Mondays and Tuesdays)
- Provide backup support for billing and invoicing
- Utilize job costing functions within the accounting system
- Maintain accurate financial records and support general accounting tasks
- Experience with QuickBooks (required)
- Strong Excel skills
- Solid understanding of AP/AR processes
- Ability to work independently in a small team environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Construction or job costing experience is a plus, but not required
- Approximate company size: ~40-50 employees with strong, stable operations
- Healthy financial position with consistent cash flow
- Open-ended engagement with potential for long-term continuity
- Ideal for professionals seeking flexible hours, including experienced or semi-retired candidates
- $25-$30/hour
