Senior Academic Adviser

Oakland University is hiring a Senior Academic Adviser. The adviser manages student caseloads to support academic planning and college transition, oversees major and career exploration processes, leads technology initiatives, and trains new and existing advisers in the First-Year Advising Center. Highlights Manage academic planning and transition support for incoming students at Oakland University's First-Year Advising Center. Serve as a liaison to Professional Schools or the College of Arts and Sciences to facilitate student progress and engagement. Oversee major and career exploration processes and related technology initiatives. Train all new and existing advisers in the center. Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree in guidance and counseling or equivalent education/experience and at least two years of academic and career advising experience in higher education. Experience collaborating with academic colleagues to develop advising protocols to retain first-year students. Demonstrated use of software to improve advising accessibility and effectiveness. Desired qualifications include LPC or Career Development Facilitator licensure and experience supervising or training Master's candidates.
