Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 per year

General Equipment & Supply is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing team in Simpsonville, SC. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations, supporting monthly and year-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the company's financial success.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role reports directly to the Controller and provides oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Analyze financial results and provide insights on trends, variances, and business performance.
• Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Support internal controls and continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Supervisor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff and workflow.
• Prepare and review annual 1099 reporting.
• Assist with audits and other compliance-related requirements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support company financial objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and corporate accounting practices.
• Experience with QuickBooks, and other ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of:
  • General ledger accounting
  • Account reconciliations
  • Accrual accounting
  • Fixed assets and depreciation
  • Financial reporting
  • Internal controls
  • Month-end and year-end close processes
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings effectively.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in distribution, manufacturing, construction, or equipment-related industries.
• Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
• Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory accounting.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
• CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus.
