Associate Attorney, Gulf Regional

Overview The Gulf Regional office of Earthjustice seeks an Associate Attorney to join our team fighting for a healthy and just Gulf. The Gulf Regional Office works across all three of Earthjustice’s core program areas—healthy communities, climate and energy, and lands, oceans and wildlife—supporting clean air, water, equitable clean energy, and protection of Gulf lands, waters, and wildlife. The position is a three‑year program with potential extension, located in Houston, Texas, but applicants throughout the Gulf region—including Mississippi—are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Conducting legal and factual research. Reviewing and analyzing administrative records and technical documents. Drafting motions, briefs, and other legal and factual documents in support of litigation and administrative advocacy. Participating in proceedings before federal and state courts and agencies. Cultivating relationships with clients, experts, allies, and coalition partners. Integrating media and legislative advocacy into litigation and other legal strategies. Hiring and supervising law students as Earthjustice interns or clerks. Required Qualifications Law school graduate, 0‑3 years of legal experience, admitted to or eligible to apply for admission to the Texas, Louisiana, or Mississippi bar. 2026 JD graduates are encouraged to apply. Excellent research, analytic, writing, and communication skills. Strong and demonstrated work ethic, good judgment, initiative, and creativity. Strong desire to fight for the right of all to a healthy environment. Ability to work well independently and in a team‑oriented atmosphere. Commitment to serving the public interest and a passion for Earthjustice’s mission. Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations. High level of emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills. Salary and Benefits Salary depends on experience and location. Salary range in Texas, Mississippi, or Louisiana: $93,900 – $104,800. We offer a competitive compensation package, including excellent benefits.
