About the Role
The Company is in need of an Interim General Counsel to provide essential support in overseeing the organization's legal function. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, offering strategic guidance on a range of legal, transactional, and compliance matters. This role is particularly focused on ensuring the legal integrity of domestic and international grantmaking activities, with a specific emphasis on foundation law. Responsibilities include advising on legal and compliance issues, developing and implementing organizational policies, and coordinating with outside counsel on international legal matters. Applicants for the Interim General Counsel position at the company should have a senior-level legal background, with a proven track record in a General Counsel or similar legal leadership role. Essential qualifications include experience in foundation law and a strong understanding of international grantmaking compliance. The role requires expertise in managing a variety of legal, transactional, and compliance matters, as well as the ability to advise on corporate, regulatory, tax, and compliance issues. Preferred skills include experience with nonprofit or private foundation organizations, managing outside counsel relationships, and a background in contract review, negotiation, and organizational compliance programs. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a proactive problem-solver, and a collaborative team player.
