Job Summary
Responsible for providing legal analysis and advice with respect to key policies, courses of action, rules, systems, or processes in strategically important areas. Anticipates issues, develops effective ways of resolving them, and to the extent appropriate provides continued legal counsel through implementation. Proactively and effectively uses contacts and resources as necessary to accomplish goals. Functions effectively within the larger Company.
Responsibilities
- Handle routine tasks without supervision and solve difficult problems with minimal supervision.
- Apply legal principles and knowledge to analyze business and financial transactions, litigation and related legal documents, and evaluating compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze key issues, organize thoughts, advocate and present legal points; draft documents, negotiate, and perform other assigned job functions.
- Possess significant courtroom experience as first‑chair trial and appellate attorney, or lead non‑litigation matters.
- Manage outside counsel effectively and efficiently.
- Develop new skills or gain proficiency by supporting other organizations.
- Supervise paraprofessionals, administrative staff, and other attorneys.
- Lead project teams to successful resolution and practice focused listening and respectful interaction with others.
- Deliver difficult or controversial messages to a wide variety of audiences in a highly skilled manner.
Minimum Requirements
- A Juris Doctor is required.
- 9+ years in a law firm or in‑house setting in one or more applicable areas of expertise (Regulatory, Corporate/Commercial, Litigation, Labor & Employment, Nuclear, Environmental).
- Preferred: Experience in Regulatory matters, particularly utility regulatory matters, is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Highly skilled in complex analysis and troubleshooting/problem‑solving in the area of practice, including those outside of expertise. Solid grasp of rules, guidelines and Company policies governing major practice areas. Strong, persuasive written and oral communication skills and collaborative skills. Detailed industry knowledge, including in-depth understanding of the Company’s strategic business values and objectives. Demonstrated judgment, positive attitude, personal accountability, collaboration, resilience, flexibility, respectful treatment of others, integrity, performance mindset, and commitment to ongoing growth and development.
