Summary

The IT Operating Unit Director leads enterprise systems (both end points and servers) management, architecture, and engineering efforts, principally focused on the efficient delivery of IT services, leading monitoring, security logging, incident investigation, and remediation efforts. This position is responsible for one or more major IT functions of complexity (e.g., computer operations and help desk support) as well as complex/highly technical functions which smaller impact to operations and support of the entire health system. Essential functions of this position are to use data from management systems and convert this into actionable intelligence that drives changes in infrastructure management affecting all aspects of IT service delivery to the Johns Hopkins.

The IT Operating Unit Director will lead a team of experienced IT professionals, and manage projects of varying complexity, which may include those requiring multi-disciplinary coordination and significant vendor collaboration. This role has direct responsibility for the design, development, and application of technical solutions that satisfy customer needs and are essential to the ongoing operations of the department or IT function.

This position will manage the customer relationship and satisfaction as well as adherence to service level agreements by creating and promoting a culture of excellent customer service and maintaining relationships with customers to better understand their needs and address organizational goals.

The IT Operating Unit Director will represent departmental leadership in divisional and interdivisional meetings related to IT policies and operations, and will collaborate with departmental administrative and/or academic leadership or senior IT leadership to develop and implement plans related to technology in support of the division.

Job Scope/Complexity:

Responsible for the entire IT budget for the division, typically multi-million including both capital and operating expenses. Technology and business decisions made within the division are complex, have a high impact, and must consider the various base of products and services supported externally, as well as the unique business needs of the division, in order to ensure appropriate integration.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree required. Additional experience may be substituted for education. Experience beyond the required work experience may be substituted for the degree on a 2 to 1 basis. With every two years' experience equal to one year of education.
• Eight years (8) of related work experience with computer systems, applications and Cyber Security technologies.
• Two years (2) of leadership experience required, preferable at the supervisory level
