Academic Requirements Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or related field, or currently enrolled in an advanced degree program. Required: High School Diploma. Certifications If applicant does not have 18 hours of social work on transcript, a Family Services Certificate must be obtained within 6 months of hire. INK will pay for the first certification test. If the test is failed, subsequent tests will be paid for by the applicant. Work Experience Preferred: 1 year of related direct service experience. Summary The Home Visitor is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population, especially in crisis situations, while maintaining compliance with established program standards. Essential Functions Outreach and recruitment of participants for classes, including efforts to minimize attrition. Establishes and maintains a trusting and professional working relationship with families by providing regular contact through personal visits. Administer intake, assessments, and screening tools to clients and family members. Utilize intake and assessment results to establish and implement goals, objectives, and activities identified with parents. Record all group and individualized services and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner using program forms in informational software/databases. Meet with Project Manager/Supervisor on a bi-weekly basis to evaluate the status of families on caseload. Measurable Deliverables Obtain and maintain certification in SafeCare curriculum administration. Enroll and partner in serving a maximum of 60 clients and provide sessions of services as per Texas Home Visiting guidelines. Provide parent & health education, case management, resource and referrals, basic needs support, transportation assistance, and/or other support services to families on caseload. Document all attendance on a weekly basis in informational software. Attend all required trainings. Provide community education on child abuse prevention strategies. Develop with the Director updates, reminders, and community education information. Requirements Learn, live and coach one team, one mission culture and values. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens; maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints required if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years). Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish. Work in a fast-paced environment. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. Work effectively and without intensive supervision, both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Travel locally as needed. Manage time effectively and efficiently. Bilingual preferred (Spanish). Will follow all procedures of the INK personnel manual. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
