Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing assessments for adult patients in acute care.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans with measurable goals; document patient progress.
- Perform swallowing evaluations and MBSS as part of dysphagia management; provide therapy and compensatory strategies as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (nursing, physicians, dietitians, therapy colleagues) to support patient-centered discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on communication strategies, safe swallow techniques, and home safety post-discharge; participate in rounds and care conferences.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and ensure compliance with facility policies and payer requirements.

Requirements
- License: Current nursing license per the state of assignment
- Certification: Current BLS certification
- Experience: At least two years of recent field experience; two years in acute care with adults (one year if an acute-care internship applies)
- Skills: Proficient in conducting MBSS
- Schedule: Ability to work weekends as part of the rotation; available to float as needed within the assignment
- Eligibility: Must be able to work in the specified acute care setting
